Long time sponsors of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) is teaming up with Freedom Harley-Davidson to host the Chili Cook-off Biker's Edition Ride and Dine to benefit MDA. This event combines the annual NALC Chili Cook-off with a motorcycle ride and post-ride festivities on Sunday, July 25.
Participants may check-in for the ride beginning at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at 5151 W. 1st Avenue in Denver and will travel along a scenic route ending at Freedom Harley at 8020 W. Colfax Avenue. Crockpot entries to the Chili Cook-off should be dropped off at Freedom Harley by 10:30 a.m. to prepare for judging at 12 p.m. Following the cook-off, festivities will begin including games and live music from Mosscreek Band.
Participants may enter a crockpot of chili to compete in the Chili Cook-off, join in the ride, or just come to dine and enjoy the festivities. Entry into either the ride or the cook-off is a minimum of $20 in donations to MDA. Donations must total at least $35 to receive a limited edition Ride and Dine t-shirt. Incentives are given with increased fundraising, such as drawing entries, dinner for two, and a "staycation". For those attending festivities only, a donation of $5 is requested for each bowl or 3-sampler of chili.
All monies raised will go directly to local families affected by neuromuscular diseases in the form of MDA muscle clinics for adults and children, summer camp for kids ages six to 17, a loan closet with durable medical equipment, and nearly $1 million in local funding for neuromuscular research.
Call your local MDA office for more information about entry into the ride or cook-off at 303-691-3331 x209. MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat muscular dystrophy and related diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive health and community services, and far reaching professional and public health education. The Association's programs are funded almost entirely by individual contributors.
